Wasim Akram, one of the living legend Pakistan will ever have, he was born in Lahore on 1966. Wasim Akram is glamorously acknowledged as the world greatest bowler in the history of cricket.
The first ever test match he played for Pakistan was in 1985 against New Zealand, in his second test match he took 10 wickets.
Wasim Akram is a left hand fast bowler, he was popular because he swings the ball in both directions. He is also known as the sultan of swing.
The rise of Wasim Akram was rapid during the late 1980's, this period was said to be the best period of his cricketing life. During the time span of 1986 till 1989 he took 100 wickets with an economy rate of less than 3.9 per over.
Akram has won 17 Man of the match awards in 104 Test matches. He had the most number of hat-tricks in the history of international cricket, he has taken 04 hat-tricks, 02 in ODIs and 02 in Test matches. He's the first ever cricketer who has taken 500 wickets in One Day International matches.
Akram also holds a record of taking most number of wickets as a captain. Wasim Akram was also the part of 1992 worldcup victory, he played a very vital role in helping Pakistan to win a world cup for the first time.
Wasim akram also holded a record of having the most number of wickets in the ICC cricket worldcups. He took 55 wickets in 38 matches but later on Australian cricketer Glen McGrath broke this record.
