The Golden Era of Madrid

When it comes down to football, there are several players, clubs, nations and leagues that come to mind but there is always the cream of the crop. The prestige and stature of a football club is usually based upon their history as a club and the domestic and European Titles they've won.

Since 1992, the European Cup was reestablished as the Uefa Champions League and is the most prized club competition amongst the top 5 leagues in Europe.

When it comes to the UCL, or as some football fanatics call it the Uefa Cristiano League as a tribute to the highest goal scorer in the tournament's history. It's his stellar performances and link up with Gareth Bale and Karim Benzema that formed one of the most lethal trios in world football - dubbed the 'BBC'.

Real Madrid has now won the tournament, a record, 13 times with the second highest being 6 (Bayern Munich, Milan). They've outclassed the second and third best by a double margin. Out of which 4 of them have been won in the seasons 13/14, 15/16, 16/17 and 17/18 - with Cristiano Ronaldo being the top scorer in each tournament.

The hat trick of back to back Champions Leagues put them right up on a pinnacle of greatness and very can compete for the top spot in club football as Real Madrid has. A huge club based on royalty, as signified by the term "Real". This era was the prime Cristiano (who currently has 5 Balon D'ors to his name) and the peak of Real Madrid. Real are in contention of making it into the finals again as they drew against Chelsea 1-1, with the returning leg deciding on who goes into the finals.
