CARLOS BRAITHWAITE! REMEMBER THE NAME

 The 2016 T20 world cup final can be said to be the one of the best final match ever in the history of T20I cricket so far. India was hosting this world cup, and unfortunately they couldn't reach the final spot.

The final match was played at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata on April 3rd 2016. England and West Indies were face to face in the finals. Before the final match started, both the teams have won the T20 world cup once before.

The playing XI of both the teams are:

England

Jason Roy, Alex Hales, Joe Root, Eoin Morgan (C), Ben Stokes, Jos Buttler (W), Moeen Ali, Chris Jordan, Adil Rashid, David Willey, Liam Plunkett


West Indies

Chris Gayle, Johnson Charles, Lendl Simmons, Marlon Samuels, Dwayne Bravo, Andre Russell, Denesh Ramdin (W), Darren Sammy (C), Carlos Brathwaite, Samuel Badree, Sulieman Benn

West Indies had won the toss and they chosed to bowl first. During the first powerplay West Indies did pretty well they bowled out the opponent's opening batsmen quickly. Joe Root tried to bring up his team in a secured position, he played a brilliant knock of 54 off 36 balls. Batting deeply English team managed to finish their inning at 155/9.


West Indies were poor during the start of the chase. Chris Gayle, and his opening partner were sent back to the pavilion very quickly. At that moment West Indies were 11/3.

The 75 runs partnership between Marlon Samuels and DJ Bravo helped West Indies to come back in the game.

With the passage of time. West Indies were in a situation where they needed 45 runs in the last 4 overs to win. England were bowling very sweetly and magnificently.

West Indies needed 19 runs in the last over to win the match. Carlos Braithwaite was on strike and Ben Stokes was bowling the last over.

Every one in the ground thought that England will win it, but the situation were in favor of West indies when Carlos Braithwaite smaked 4 consecutive sixes in the final over and roars in the ground celebrating the success.

Carlos Braithwaite broke the record of scoring the highest run ever in the last over (24 runs off 4 balls)


Only 3 players were able to reach double figure during the game

1) Marlon Samuels (85* off 66)

2) Carlos Braithwaite (34* off 10)

3) DJ Bravo (25 off 27)


Marlon Samuels was declared as the Man of the Match of the final. And West Indies made the history to be the first ever team to win the T20 world cup 2 times.
