The Golden Era of Madrid

Image
When it comes down to football, there are several players, clubs, nations and leagues that come to mind but there is always the cream of the crop. The prestige and stature of a football club is usually based upon their history as a club and the domestic and European Titles they've won. Since 1992, the European Cup was reestablished as the Uefa Champions League and is the most prized club competition amongst the top 5 leagues in Europe.  When it comes to the UCL, or as some football fanatics call it the Uefa Cristiano League as a tribute to the highest goal scorer in the tournament's history. It's his stellar performances and link up with Gareth Bale and Karim Benzema that formed one of the most lethal trios in world football - dubbed the 'BBC'. Real Madrid has now won the tournament, a record, 13 times with the second highest being 6 (Bayern Munich, Milan). They've outclassed the second and third best by a double margin. Out of which 4 of them have been won in ...

Leicester City’s Greatest Underdog Story

Image
Leicester’s Premier League triumph in 2014-15 season will always be remember as the greatest underdog story in world football.   After a great escape in a season prior foxes under the guidance of Italian maestro Claudio Ranieri did the unthinkable after winning Premier League title for the first time in clubs’ rich history. At the beginning of the season, Leicester had 5000-1 odds of winning the league suggesting they would probably be relegated to TheChampionship (2nd tier of English football). When the season began, Leicester City players performed like they had a point to prove especially the English talesman Jamie Vardy who spent most of his career playing for lower tier teams & Algerian winger Riyad Mahrez. These two proved to be Leicester’s main men going forward. After first 6 games, Leicester was unbeaten and sat at 3 rd in the league table. Foxes were flying high when they received their first setback came down crashing after 5-2 thumping by Arsenal at home....

Big names such as Man Utd, Man City, Milan, Real Madrid, Barcelona, Chelsea, Liverpool being some of the primary 12 to sign up for the competition.
